    Bow Ties

Never been here before. The local radio station (Sunny something) was having their one year anniversary bash. It wasn't much. Mostly the radio people, the Bow Ties people, and that was about it. Food lousy. Allison went with us.

    Alive After Five

Met a girl while waiting in the restroom line. She's a teacher in Durham. According to her, she has two middle class students. The rest are either rich or poor. I know the middle class is disappearing but didn't realize to what extent. Hopefully, Durham is not a microcosm of the future. Without a middle class, there will be definitely be social unrest in the future. Probably bloody. Maybe I'll be dead by then. This girl had moved here from Albuquerque with her boyfriend. She's out. Nice girl too.

Bumped into Terri and her friends. I had a pretty good conversation with one of them. It turns out they are in the same boat that Keith and I are in. They bought a couple of books. "The Rules" and "The Real Rules". Both oriented towards how to get a "date". She said that the hardest thing was overcoming old habits. Amen to that sister!

    Have A Nice Day Cafe

Nothing much happening here. I think I'm running out of steam. So much for the grand plan. One thing. I have got to start writing in the log right after the fact. I am leaving too much thinking time between the events and the writing. This colors what I write.

    Have A Nice Day Cafe

We got there at the usual time, got the usual drinks, and hung at the usual place. Pretty good crowd. Lots of single women. Well, I try to put the plan into effect but man, do I really botch the approach. Two No's at once and plenty of confusion. It reminded me of the guy at 42nd Street Oyster Bar. I retreat into the cave and promptly go into a flat spin. I felt at the end of my rope and ready to quit to whole scene for awhile. Maybe for a long while. Just rest. Yeah, that's the ticket. Huh, all this in about an hour (talk about developments).

I find Keith and tell him I'm going. He tries to cheer me up and I try to be cheered up but it didn't help much. I mope around awhile until Keith hooks up with a couple of girls. We go out and dance for a few songs and I feel much, much BETTER. Amazing what a little encouragement can do even if you didn't generate it yourself. Thank goodness for people like Keith. Thanks Keith.

Once more unto the breach dear friends. And with enthusiasm.

P.S. One thing I realized. I live completely inside myself. I draw very little vitality from the people around me. Which is just the opposite of the type that goes discohopping. They seem to need the energy of others. Maybe because they can't generate any of their own. You know, I would be reasonably happy isolated from the rest of humanity. As long as I didn't get bored of course.
